Members of the Coimbatore Information Technology Association (CITA) recently conducted a blood donation camp at Coimbatore. CITA is the fourth association to organize blood donation camp in the state following the associations Erode District Information Technology Association (EDITA), Kanyakumari District Computer Dealers Association (KKDCDA), and Tirupur Information Technology Association (TITA), which have conducted such camps of late.
The members, along with Shanthi Medical Center, a social service organization, conducted a rally at Nehru stadium, Coimbatore and the team traveled to the hospital for donating blood. More than 20 members from the association participated in the event.
The slogan of the event ‘Donate Blood, Save a Life’ was displayed. The rally was organized and spread through marketing activities during the event. N Anand, secretary, CITA said, “We came forth the fact that every month, there is a need for around 7,000 units of blood in Coimbatore. However, only 4,000 units are available. To create awareness among the business fraternity and the public, we decided to conduct such an event.” He also added that the members, not only through the association, but also through various social groups and forums, have been donating blood in regular intervals. He also thanked the organizers of the event for making it successful.
B Kuberan, president, Confed-ITA, and A Muthuswamy, former president, Confed-ITA, participated in the event.
